The National University of Singapore’s (NUS) Asian Institute of Digital Finance (NUS-AIDF) and the ASEAN Bankers Association (ABA), the regional body representing national banking associations across all 10 ASEAN member states, have signed a Training Collaboration Agreement to equip banking and financial sector professionals across Southeast Asia with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in an increasingly digital and complex financial landscape.
The collaboration brings together NUS-AIDF’s deep expertise in digital finance and financial technology research with ABA’s extensive regional network spanning Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Under the Agreement, NUS-AIDF will develop and deliver a suite of continuing professional development programmes, including both online and in-person training modules, lectures, and courses, made available to member banks across all ABA member states through ABA’s dedicated Training Portal.
The partnership reflects both organisations’ shared commitment to advancing expertise, ethical integrity, and innovation within the ASEAN banking community, equipping professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the rapidly evolving landscape of digital finance and financial technology. Exciting new programmes tailored for banking professionals across the region are currently in development and will be announced in the coming months.
Associate Professor Huang Ke-Wei, Executive Director, NUS-AIDF, said, “The banking sector across Southeast Asia is undergoing rapid transformation, driven by digital innovation and the growing adoption of financial technology. It is important that professionals in the region are not only aware of these changes, but are equipped with the practical skills and knowledge to lead and manage them responsibly. Our collaboration with ABA is a meaningful step in that direction, bringing NUS-AIDF’s research-driven expertise directly to banking professionals across all 10 ASEAN nations. We look forward to building programmes that are relevant, impactful, and truly responsive to the needs of the region’s financial sector.”
