This course aims to provide an overview of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with the focus on Generative AI and its applications in finance. According to a March 2024 report by the McKinsey Global Institute (MGI), generative AI could boost the global banking sector's annual revenues by $200 billion to $340 billion, or 2.8 to 4.7 percent, primarily by enhancing productivity.

Participants will gain insights on how Generative AI is transforming the finance industry and be equipped with the relevant knowledge and skills to evaluate and use Generative AI-powered tools and technologies in their organisations.

Dr. Ke-Wei Huang is the Executive Director of Asian Institute of Digital Finance and an Associate Professor in the Department of Information Systems and Analytics at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Dr Huang's research interests are in the economics of information systems and data mining for financial applications. Currently, he focuses on various topics of pricing digital goods, labor economics of IT professionals, and data mining or econometrics issues for topics in accounting or finance. Dr. Huang joined NUS in July 2007. He received his Ph.D. (2007), M.Phil. (2005), and M.Sc. (2002) degrees in Information Systems from the Stern School of Business at New York University, and his M.B.A. in Finance (1997) and B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering (1995) from National Taiwan University.

Lee Yen Teik is a Senior Lecturer at NUS Business School. He is a teacher, researcher, and mentor in corporate and digital finance. Before joining NUS, Yen Teik was an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Asia School of Business and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE), a Senior Lecturer at Curtin Singapore, and a visiting scholar at both New York University Stern School of Business and Cambridge Judge Business School. He is the recipient of the NUS Business School Teaching Excellence Award 2023, the SUFE Excellent Teachers Award 2015, and Society of Financial Studies Finance Cavalcade Best Paper in Corporate Finance Award 2013. His works have been featured on Kellogg Insight, BBC World Service, The Economist (blog), and The Columbia Law School (Blue Sky Blog), as well as published in the Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, and Journal of Management Studies, among others. Yen Teik received his PhD in Business (Finance) from Singapore Management University.

Prof. David Lee is a Professor of Fintech and Blockchain at the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), a Distinguished Professor at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, an Adjunct Professor at the National University of Singapore (NUS), a founding Council Member of the British Blockchain Association, and Editor-in-Chief or Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Fintech and Annual Review of Fintech. Professor Lee is a distinguished scholar, recognized for his expertise in developing WEB3 and AI application scenarios. He serves as the Chairman of the Global FinTech Institute (GFI), co-founder of both the Singapore Blockchain Association and the Blockchain Security Alliance, as well as the Global Web3 Association. Additionally, he is a CBDC advisor to the Asian Development Bank, Vice President of the Economic Society of Singapore (ESS), a cryptocurrency advisor to the Asian Institute of Digital Finance (AIDF) at NUS, and an advisor to the SUSS Node for Inclusive FinTech (NiFT).

Dr. Li is an expert in Promotion and Implementation of AI in Finance, Framework Development for Financial Ethics, Accountability, and Transparency (FEAT), and Advocacy for Responsible AI.

Dr Li is heading the AI Development Office from the FinTech & Innovation Group in MAS. The mandate of the AI Development Office focuses on promoting the usage of Artificial Intelligence in the Singapore financial sector. It will develop and implement the AI strategy for Singapore financial industry, facilitate industry-wide AI projects within and beyond the financial sector as well as embark on initiatives to develop a sustainable ecosystem that supports the experimentation and deployment of AI-based technologies in the financial sector. Dr Li’s major expertise covers areas such as machine learning, big data analysis, cloud computing, text mining etc. Before joining MAS, he was a scientist at VISA and UBS. He holds a PhD in machine learning.

Dr. Andreas Deppeler is an expert in Ethics, Risk Management, and Governance of Artificial Intelligence, Digital Strategy Advisory and Emerging Technologies and Business Strategy. His research focuses on artificial intelligence at the intersection of computer science, philosophy and organizational psychology.

In his previous roles, he has advised clients on how to use data and analytics to generate business insights, strengthen controls and improve operational performance. This includes the design and implementation of data governance models, big data architecture and robotic process automation. He has a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics and has held senior positions at prominent organizations in the finance industry.
